Daydreaming about using webcams and vision detection to determine when a streetcar is at a particular stop. Does anyone know of any nontraditional vehicle tracking systems like this that people have put together?

Fascinating hack by MetroRiderLA–they’re having their posse enter transit stations as Yelp locations so that it’ll be easy to see what restaurants and businesses are nearby, and vice-versa. Apparently they’ve made good progress over the last few months!(tags: losangeles ideas)
