My wife is looking to bake cup cakes for our kids. And this is the first time she is baking the cake. Please anyone help us out on how to decorate the cupcakes.
You can buy some piping nozzles and do a swirl of buttercream. You could just dollop some buttercream on top. If you wanted it to have a particular theme you could decorate it with fondant. Or if there is enough space between the top of the sponge and the cake liner you could pour ganache in.
I tend to like piping on buttercream and then topping with a drizzle of chocolate or sauce/puree and then topping with an appropriate item. For example, my bounty cupcakes I made the other day were chocolate sponges with a chocolate filling. Topped with coconut buttercream a drizzle of chocolate and chopped bounty pieces. To glam up the cupcake I flourish it with Magic Sparkles edible glitter which are 100% edible, GM free, and gluten-aware.
